Yolanda Echols Mitchell is a native of the City of Chattanoogs and was educated in our public school system. Yolanda received her formal education at the University of Tennessee Knoxville where she received her undergraduate degree and law degree.
Yolanda has practiced law in Hamilton County for 20 years. She worked as an Assistant District Attorney for 10 years. Yolanda has a vast amount of trial experience. As an Assistant District Attorney, she was afforded the opportunity to handle offenses ranging from disorderly conduct to 1st degree murder cases.
During 2000-2004, Yolanda was assigned as Child Abuse Prosecutor for Hamilton County. She was responsible for prosecuting cases that involed child neglect and cases involving both sexual and physial abuse. During her assignment in this role, Yolanda worked closely with the Hamilton County Child Protective Investigation Team (CPIT). This team consisted of members of local law enforcement agencies, the Department of Children Services and Hamilton County Juvenile Court personnel.
Yolanda served as a Hamilton County General Sessions Court Magistrate Judge from 2007-2011 and she held the Chief Magistrate Judge position for the 2007-2008 term.

Currently, Yolanda maintains a private law practice which she began in 2004. Her practice handles criminal cases in both the adult and juvenile courts and civil cases in Juvenile, Chancery and General Sessions Courts.
